We are so excited to host the Lee Brothers for a class and book signing this coming month. The class is sold out, but we welcome one and all to come for the book signing from 4-5 pm on March 13. Matt and Ted Lee created a mail order “Boiled Peanuts Catalogue” while attending college in the Northeast featuring some of their favorite boyhood foods from growing up in Charleston. This is their third book on the subject of Charleston cuisine entitled The Lee Brothers Charleston Kitchen. This book delves deep into the lowcountry cuisine of Charleston, both historically and contemporarily. It includes interviews with low country cooks to provide the best recipes possible to characterize their charming city.
A recent article in Garden & Gun magazine examines their take on a beloved Southern speciality, “…they tackle shrimp and grits with tomato-and-bacon gusto. Their version of the Lowcountry breakfast staple blends the fortified old with the best of the streamlined new for a rich stew of ingredients that still showcases the delicate flavor of fresh shrimp.”
Southern Season will open its second location, in Charleston, in September 2013 and we plan to have the Lee brothers along with many other amazing chefs and cooks in Charleston as frequent guests to the school and the store.
