Greece, first in so many of the things we take for granted today, produced the original chewing gum, Mastiha (pronounced mahs-TEEKH-hah). With an herbal, slightly citrusy flavor, it's used predominately for flavoring Turkish Delight, drinks of the region and is believed to have medicinal benefits, especially for dental and stomach care. When the resin falls in the shape of a tear from the Mastiha tree it drips down on to washed white pebbles. Cultivation and harvest are protected by the government much like the wines of France. 25g box.
