St. Glinglin Carte Verte Franc Bordeaux Rouge
Product SKU # 542-8886
The St. Glinglin Bordeaux Rouge is entirely Merlot and aged in cement for 18 months prior to bottling and aging eight months before release. From the Côtes de Francs region in Bordeaux, the Rouge is minerally-driven, reflecting the clay and limestone soil from the plateau. The wine fills a glass with black cherry and plum notes, wrapped in a fragrant floral bouquet. Roughly translated to the phrase “when pigs fly,” the St. Glinglin label provides wine aficionados with Bordeaux for an affordable price, hence the translation, “when pigs fly.” The grapes are predominately sourced from the steep clay slopes located in the center of the Bordeaux appellation. A joint project between Master Sommelier Richard Betts and winemaker François Thienpont, St. Glinglin approaches wine with a sommelier’s perspective, allowing the wine to dictate decisions rather than an initial focus on geology or vinification.
