Established in 1638 by Christiano Kopke and his son, Nicolau Kopke, the House of Kopke is the oldest Porto wine exporting firm. Through many generations, the Company was run by several representatives of the Kopke family, obtaining an excellent reputation for its wines. Some of its members were deeply involved with the Oporto trade, mainly in the 19th century, when Joaquim Kopke, entitled “ Barão de Massarelos “, took part on most economic actions held. Today this Port House maintains its reputation and holds the mark as being the Oldest Port House.
Liz Cooper has over 30 years of experience in the food and beverage industry. She began as most, working in restaurants, and that led her from her native Illinois to North Carolina in 1986. After working at restaurants in Wilmington and Raleigh, Elizabeth realized her true passion was the beverage menu. She moved to working in distribution, then on to a supplier position with an import company out of New York covering the Southeastern US.
Barb Lavergne is a long time Sales Rep for Ararat Imports. She brings in all of the Kopke Port for the state.
