Ippolito 1845 'Colli del Mancuso' Ciro Classico Superiore Riserva 2012
Ippolito Colli del Mancuso Gaglioppo
Ippolito’s ‘Colli del Mancuso’ is a single vineyard wine made from Galioppo, the most ancient and noble vineyard of Calabria, grown on lucious and fertile hills located at the heart of Cirò area. This area is known for its sandy, limestone soils where Gaglioppo thrives. They grow on 35-40 year old vines and are fermented in stainless steel tanks with a long maceration on the skins. Afterwards, the wine spends 12 months in oak barrels. This Cirò Classico Superiore Reserva is ruby red in color and boasts an elegant perfume of wild cherry and plums with subtle notes of spices and vanilla. The flavor is full, smooth, and delicately tannic. The extra age in bottle here has done the wine very well!
